Celebrate the Center!
Easton Collection Center Dedication
June 20 and 21, 2009

Almost 17 months after breaking ground, the new Easton Collection Center will be dedicated with a Fundraising Dinner and Celebration on June 20 and a Public Dedication Ceremony on June 21. Make sure you are part of the "Celebrate the Center!" events as we dedicate this state-of-the-art, 17,000 square foot facility to house items from MNA's extensive collections.

Creativity, Culture and Community
MNA’s four festivals highlight the region’s cultures and encourage communication and the exchange of ideas between visitors, educators, and artists. Art, music, performances, and Heritage Insights presentations combine to create cultural understanding and a forum for dialogue.

Natural Languages: The Art of Judy Tuwaletstiwa

"Bosque 26" by Judy TuwaletstiwaJudy Tuwaletstiwa combines photographs, mixed media paintings, sculpture, and text to create a poetic visual language. Explore the wonder of the southwest through the language of the landscape as revealed in these exciting and intimate portraits of the land and its residents.
 
MNA Discovery
The Museum of Northern Arizona’s Discovery Program is a gateway into the wonders of the Colorado Plateau.  Forty-six classes are a summer’s worth of creative and meaningful exploration for children 4-16. Taught by experienced educators, these programs offer an exciting range of hands-on learning opportunities about the region’s traditions of fine arts, natural sciences, Native cultures, and ecology.

New trips for 2009 - now available for reservation!

Exceptional outdoor educational experiences discovering and exploring the Colorado Plateau — 130,000 square miles of spectacular mountains, mesas, and canyonlands in the Four Corners region of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. Ventures range in length from a day to a week. Diverse itineraries include hiking, backpacking, river rafting, camping, van tours, and lodge-based excursions on the Plateau. We keep groups small to allow maximum interaction between participants and trip leaders.

 
THERIZINOSAUR – Mystery of the Sickle-Claw Dinosaur

Discover the newest and strangest dinosaur in all of North America. See the real bones in a reconstructed quarry as it was excavated in southern Utah by MNA paleontologists; a mounted skeleton of this one-ton, feathered plant-eater; remarkable artwork that explores its watery world; and the premier of a robotic plesiosaur.

Northern Arizona’s three premier scientific attractions have joined together to offer the Northern Arizona Exploration Pass. Lowell Observatory, Meteor Crater, and the Museum of Northern Arizona are offering a $2 discount on admission with this pass.

Artist-in-Residency Program
The Artist-In-Residence Program at the Museum of Northern Arizona offers professional writers, composers, and visual and performing artists the opportunity to pursue their artistic discipline, while immersed in the inspiring landscape of northern Arizona and the Colorado Plateau.

AAM Restores MNA's Accreditation
On August 8, 2008 the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff received word from the American Association of Museums (AAM) that its accreditation by the AAM had been restored. AAM accreditation is the highest national recognition for a museum, signifying excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public.

MNA Institutional Planning
Crucial to every museum is an institutional plan that helps guide present and future work. The Museum of Northern Arizona has developed a new institutional plan and invites you to read about and comment on the process.

MNA Adopts Updated Mission, Vision and Values Statement
The MNA Board of Trustees has adopted an updated Mission Statement.
